It’s rare to see such unity between the Democrats and the Republicans, yet during this legislative session, never have I been more proud of our majority Republican State Senate and State House of Representatives. I applaud both parties and chambers for working together to unanimously pass SB 364 which will do a number of things to improve our schools. Now the bill passes on to Governor Nathan Deal for it to be signed into law.
Below is a brief explanation of SB364, provided by Shervette Miller-Payton (@AtlTeacher), assistant principal at Chamblee High School and author of remembertheclassroom.wordpress.com.
While the evaluation system still needs to be significantly improved, passing SB 364 was a huge win for teachers, students, families, and communities. Thank you to Georgia’s State Legislature for taking these much-needed steps towards improving education in our state.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Governor Deal signs it into law.
